If I was on the computer, I would attach an image of the computer connecting to the network with "local only" connection. I've had it for four days with no semblance of success (besides the one-time winsock fix). If anybody here has experience with this issue, please enlighten me. We've tried all we can on this machine and it's getting very frustrating. I believe we've run an MBAM quick scan but I don't want to waste my time with a full scan on the basis that a virus wouldn't get rid of wi-fi connectivity but leave wired in tact. SFC "discovered" and "repaired" some broken system files but the issue persisted. My diagnosis is a low-level software issue. We tried giving it a static IP but that doesn't help at all. Not a card issue, an external wi-fi adapter doesn't connect either (with proprietary driver/software) and the wi-fi connects through a Hiren's boot CD. Command-line solutions (netsh int, many other flags on netsh) fail to make any headway. Winsock fix repairs the issue after one reboot but the next reboot reverts the progress. Other computers connect fine to the network. It recognizes available signals but doesn't connect. The laptop (XPS M1330, Vista) doesn't connect to our network.
